M31仙女星系。銀河系和仙女座星系正在相互靠近對方，大約30億年後兩者可能會碰撞，並變成巨型橢圓星系。M31和銀河系相似，對二者進行對比研究，就能獲得銀河系的運動、結構和演化的線索。從地球仰望仙女星系是一件不可思議的事情，有如一粒沙看不見整個沙漠，距離讓我們看見宇宙的巨大。

The Andromeda galaxy M31 and the galaxy have been edging closer to each other.  In about 3 billion years, they might collide to form an elliptical galaxy. Because of the similarities between each other, one can get evidence of galactic activity, structure and the evolutionary process just by comparing them with each other. It is incredible to view the Andromeda galaxy from earth. Just like a grain of sand is impossible to see the entire desert, its distance reminds us of the vastness of the universe.
