在書本中看到人體味蕾的照片，似乎與家中養的紅菇珊瑚觸手有幾分相似。紅菇珊瑚只要照光就可以存活，因為身體中寄住許多可以行光合作用的藻類，彼此產生了共生關係。當以藍光照射紅菇珊瑚時，牠會發出淡淡的紅色螢光（如左圖）！在紫外線照射之下，螢光蛋白吸收後會把一部分分給共生藻，其餘多出來的能量便會釋放出來變成美麗的螢光喔！

The diagrams of human taste buds in the book looks almost like the tentacles of the blue mushroom coral (Actinodiscus sp) I have at home. Because its body contains various algae that can go through photosynthesis, thus the result of symbiosis, it can survive just by irradiation. As in the left photo, when blue ray is casted upon the coral, it will emit reddish luminescent. Under the ultraviolet rays, parts of the florescent protein will be given to the symbiotic algae and the remaining energy will be released to create a beautiful glow.
