.余杰澄-M27啞鈴星雲 (Dumbbell Nebula M27)

以周圍的黑襯托其孤寂，M27啞鈴星雲是夏季最美麗的星雲之一。啞鈴星雲屬行星狀星雲，在夜空下顯得昏暗而較難以觀測，然而，因為其他行星狀星雲更為不顯或比啞鈴星雲小，M27成為最早被人類發現的行星狀星雲。M27中心的恆星是目前知道最大的白矮星。看起來就像是一個可愛的啞鈴，因而得名。

The picturesque M27: The Dumbbell nebula stands out in the lonely darkness of the summer evenings. Although the M27 is rather dusky and unclear to view, it is the biggest of planetary nebulas and also the first one to be discovered. Its central star is the biggest known white dwarf so far and the Dumbbell Nebula’s name lends itself to its dumbbell like appearance.
