( Lightning Beneath the Starry Skies)

Thecause of lightning is determined by the intensity of the currents of air, water and ice inside the dark cloud. Intense currents in the cloud fill the water droplets and ice crystals with static electricity. The lightweight positive electrostatic charges pile on the upper layer of cloud, while the heavier negative charges gather at the bottom.  The ground produces positive electrostatic charges due to the negative electrostatic charges at the bottom part of the cloud. When opposite electrons accumulate to a certain level, the electric field will pierce through the air and discharge electricity within the clouds. If this high-powered electric field is formed between the clouds and ground, the fork shaped lightning will then be discharged. It is spectacular to see the in cloud lightning and cloud to ground fork shape lightning, when the moonlight peers through the clouds.
